Couples

“The first step is to become aware that love, and also life, is an art. If we want to learn to love, we should proceed in the same way as if we wanted to learn any other art, such as making music, painting, carpentry, the art of medicine or engineering. „

Erich Fromm

The couple relationship is permanently under the stresses of everyday life. The exhilarating feeling of close connection and closeness can fade at times and sometimes only appear rarely. As life goes on, new stages in life and sudden strokes of fate can also shake the relationship. Depending on how we have learned to deal with such situations, we use and develop different behaviors. And sometimes these destructive ways of coping lead to a drifting apart of both partners. We feel like we’re losing touch with each other.

Counseling

During our consultation, a dialogue arises that helps to sort out the situation. With our company we look at the supposed chaos of feelings and thoughts. The appreciative handling of your feelings such as anger, fear, despair, sadness, but also happiness, joy, warmth and ultimately love are part of our sessions and are allowed to be.

Together we recognize recurring patterns of conflicts and learn to accept and change them so that new ways of acting and thinking emerge.

We talk about our own needs. What do I need for myself to be part of the partnership? How can I talk to her or him about it? How can I listen and understand him or her? How can I say something without being afraid that I will hurt her or him? How can I endure and accept the differences of my partner?

By successfully addressing these questions, the relationship can ultimately become energizing again. Even lost trust can be regained if the necessary steps are taken on both sides.

Often one partner suggests couple counseling or couples therapy to the other, but the other does not (yet) want to go with you. Or you do not yet trust yourself to tell your partner about the need for advice. Individual counseling without a partner can be helpful because some conflict patterns can be highlighted and dealing with them can be improved. In addition, it can still be possible to win over the missing partner after a short period of time in order to continue the couple counseling together.
